By the end of 2013, we had assumed that Samsung would not make the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 official into Indian market. Now, all of the sudden, the company has quietly launched the tablet in India. It wasn't long ago when Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab 4 range across the world. With the updated tablet series expected to go official in India, it would be puzzling to guess why Samsung would like to launch a tablet that went on sale in June 2013. Further, the tablet is available for a whooping Rs. 36,340. Yes, you heard it right! Currently, the tablet is out of stock from the company's own web store. Talking about its features and specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a 10.1-inch display having a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. The tablet runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablet comes with SIM slot and also supports 3G connectivity. On the imaging front, there's a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. Other connectivity options include: 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz), Wi-Fi Channel Bonding, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS. At Rs. 36,340, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is way expensive than the Apple iPad Air (16GB, Wi-Fi only). The tablet was announced way back in June last year, and on the top, it's specs looks aged and underwhelming, when compared to high-end 10-inch tablets available in the market. Here are the top 5 reasons (read: challengers) why one should avoid the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. Take a look!

HP to release a $99 tablet for the back-to-school season
If rumors are to be trusted, HP is about to launch a $99 tablet for the upcoming back-to-school season, sources for DigiTimes claim. What's more, HP has allegedly gotten retail giant Walmart as a partner in serving the demand.

Set to be assembled by Chinese-based BYD, it is the second tablet that HP has outsourced to the manufacturer. According to the snippet of information, the device will feature a 7-inch display of unknown resolution. Considering the extreme price-point and the fact that it is said to come packing an Intel Medfield-based single core processor, we imagine that even a 720p screen is out of the question.

As for the prospects of HP's allegedly upcoming tablet? Market watchers, according to DigiTimes, are already writing it off as a likely failure due to the specific sales channels through which the tablet will be available. And there's also that wildly underwhelming single core processor – even at that price-point.

As always, we'll wait and we'll say. We can't help but think analysts may have this one right, though.
